Food Safety

In preparation for packing, potatoes are washed in fresh well water drawn from aquifers located on our property beside the pristine Saint John River. The potatoes are then packed in new containers for shipment to destination in clean, climate controlled C-TPAT/FAST certified transport trucks.

As part of the Canadian Partners in Quality (C-PIQ) program for fresh fruits and vegetables, MVP maintains detailed crop production and on farm food safety records for all grower from whom potatoes are purchased, to further insure delivery of safe, healthy potatoes exceeding the industry quality standards.

Mountain View Packers registered as a voluntary participant in the US Customs- Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program in 2003 and is a Tier 1 validated partner. As a condition of voluntary participation in this US Homeland boarder security program MVP has established above average standards for supply chain security. This includes self-policing activities to minimize the potential of a terrorist activity taking advantage of the supply chain and enhances security of premises, products, employees, documents, and conveyances. MVP gives preference to C-TPAT brokers and transporters who are also committed to the same procedures to minimize any risk from bioterrorism.

MVP is also certified with the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program which is a comprehensive Food Safety and quality management system. Our #1 priority is to provide customers with the highest quality food possible from the field to the consumer’s plate.
